I have my ballot in hand and have decided who I’m voting for.
First let me say why I’m not voting for any of the 3rd party candidates. Mainly because there is not enough support for any of them. They will, collectively, garner only a small fraction of the votes cast. Thats a shame. Were there higher numbers and a larger piece of the electoral pie then I would need to rethink my position. That said, casting a vote for the Libertarian Party, Constitution Party or the Green Party is tossing your vote away. Its sad to say that in America but its true. I do admire the determination that the 3rd party candidates have shown and will continue to show for the next two weeks.
This is a very tough time in America. It is no different if you live in Boston, Dallas or Portland. Times are tough and things are only going to get worse before they get better.
Senator Joseph Biden makes scare tactic statements like -
“Mark my words, it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America … Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”(1)
The House’s Democrats contemplate abolishing tax breaks on your 401(k), adding even more money to the federal coffers.
House Democrats Contemplate Abolishing 401(k) Tax Breaks Powerful House Democrats are eyeing proposals to overhaul the nation’s $3 trillion 401(k) system, including the elimination of most of the $80 billion in annual tax breaks that 401(k) investors receive.
House Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller, D-California, and Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Washington, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, are looking at redirecting those tax breaks to a new system of guaranteed retirement accounts to which all workers would be obliged to contribute.(2)
Barack Obama wants to increase the tax base, while cutting taxes, and spread the wealth around. Biden says that paying more taxes is ‘patriotic’.
Biden says wealthier Americans should “step up and get into the game” -- that it would be “patriotic” for them to pay more, that they need to pay their “fair share”(3) .
Patriotism has nothing to do with paying more taxes. Biden does not know his, or America’s, history. America broke away from England over, and most notably about, taxes.
Obama is, as was pointed out by Lynette Long, two people(4) . The public Obama brand and Obama the man.
Obama is a brand just like any other brand. Obama the Brand has a logo, a tag line, and a song. But Obama the man is not the same as Obama the Brand. Obama the Brand talks about new style politics, while Obama the man used Chicago style politics in every election. Obama the brand is for women’s rights while Obama the man pays the women in his office 77 cents on the dollar compared to men. And Joe Biden pays women 73 cents on the dollar. Obama the brand is pro-Israel, Obama the man is not. Obama the brand touts leadership while Obama the man voted present 130 times in the US Senate. Obama the Brand claims change, while Obama the man picks a Washington Insider as his running mate. Obama the Brand is a post-racial candidate while Obama the man plays the race card at every turn, listens for 20 years to the racial teachings of Rev. Wright, and makes contributions exclusively to Trinity United Church of Christ, the NAACP and Care Africa. Obama the man and Obama the brand are not one in the same.
Obama also admitted in 2004 that he was not experienced enough to run in 2008 on a national ticket.
“I am a believer in knowing what you’re doing when you apply for a job. And I think that if I were to seriously consider running on a national ticket, I would essentially have to start now, before having served a day in the Senate. Now there may be people comfortable doing that. I’m not one of those people.”.
Even his how running mate, Joseph Biden, commented on his lack of experience during a 2007 Democratic debate.
Obama admits he isnt ready to be president and then decides to run anyway. Its amazing how quick a learner he is.
Obama is for creating more government programs and expanding existing ones. He is not for trimming government at all. Obama wants to force employers to provide health insurance to its employees. Using the carrot and stick method if you dont comply, Obama plans on fining you. How far down does this go into small business? Obama has said he will exempt small business, but what is the definition of small?
I do believe that Obama was born in the United States. I do not believe, however, that Obama has never held solely U.S. citizenship. Part of my belief is that Obama was adopted by his step father. This fact was confirmed by Michelle Obama in an interview with API(5)
There is no shame in being adopted by a step father. All dirt has been thrown onto my husband’s face and yet he loves this country. My husband and I know that there is no law that will stop him from becoming the president, just because some American white racists are bringing up the issue of my husband’s adoption by His step father.
This coupled with the fact that Obama is reported to have traveled to Pakistan at around 21 using an Indonesian passport. If this is true, then Obama certainly had Indonesian citizenship. He was raised in Indonesia by his mother and step father.
If Lolo Soetoro adopted Obama at age five or younger, then Obama would automatically have become an Indonesian citizen according to the country’s laws in the 1960′s, which stipulated any child aged five or younger adopted by an Indonesian father is immediately granted Indonesian citizenship upon completion of the adoption process.
Lolo Soetoro could have adopted Obama in Hawaii, although such an adoption would not have necessarily been recognized by Indonesia.
Indonesian law at the time also did not recognize dual citizenship, meaning if Obama became Indonesian, then as far as that country was concerned, his U.S. citizenship was no longer recognized by Indonesia. But U.S. law would still recognize Obama as an American citizen.
In a revelation that raised a few eyebrows, Obama last April disclosed he traveled as a college student to Pakistan in 1981.
Pakistan in 1981 was under military rule. It was difficult for U.S. citizens to travel to the country without assistance. It would have been easier for someone to enter Pakistan on an Indonesian passport.
If Obama indeed possessed Indonesian citizenship as a child, it is unlikely he retains such citizenship. The country’s bylaws require any Indonesian citizen living abroad for more than five years to formally declare his intention to return, otherwise risk losing his citizenship status. The law does not necessarily mean Indonesian citizenship would be immediately lost.
I know what McCain is. I know what Palin is. I do not agree with all or the Republican party or the McCain tickets position on some issues. I do, however, not believe in a majority of what the Democratic Party and its candidate put out as their positions.
I cannot sit by and watch Obama become elected without taking part in stopping him. Obama is, in my opinion, the worst of two evils at play.
If now this position makes me a racist in your opinion, then I’ll be happy with that label no matter how inaccurate it is.
This is not an endorsement of McCain, but rather a rousing chorus of Not Obama! Anyone but Obama.
