“To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.” (1918, Theodore Roosevelt)
The blog has lost its focus in a short period of time. I apologize. Today American Hostage gets back on track. No more government as usual. No more corruption of and from our representatives and senators. No more pork. No more special interest groups that have their interests pushed over that of the people. No more Washington as usual.
The United States general election is 5 days away. Today we need to take action. We, the people, need to take back our government. Our government was not established to have its elected positions, nor its appointed positions, be held for life or as a career. Our constitutional framers saw those as positions filled by the people in service to the people and their nation. Terms served by common men then back to their real lives. Their contributions built on by their successors. It has ceased to be a government by and for the people. It has become a government by and for big business and the special interests that they support.
“When a government is dependent upon bankers for money, they and not the leaders of the government control the situation, since the hand that gives is above the hand that takes. Money has no motherland; financiers are without patriotism and without decency; their sole object is gain.” (Napoleon Bonaparte)
This election day I am asking you to stand with me and vote all of the incumbents out of federal office. Then in 2010 we will do the same with the midterm incumbents. And two years later in 1012 we will do it again to the incumbent president and those elected into office with him and on and on.
Eventually all of those elected to office will know that if they want to effect change they have only one shot. Only one chance to get it done. No more will we stand by and watch our representation, like Senator Ted Stevens, take in money and gifts in trade for votes.
In my previous post I was lamenting the Bail Out Bill (EESA) and what need to be done. Yesterday RC from Big Bend Bikers for Freedom left the following comment on my Revolution Calling post -
A way to use your vote to send a clear and convincing message to every politician in America.
However to engage in this campaign requires 3 things:
1. An acceptance of the fact that no political party is solely to blame for the current state of the country. They are all slurping at the pig trough kept full by our sweat.
2. The ability to move beyond personal ideological bias for the good of the country. It means that you/I may have to vote for somebody we do not support and against somebody we do. But consider this. All of us are usually choosing between the lessor of two evils.
3. Action, ya got to do it and encourage others to do it.
HOW WILL THIS WORK?
Simple. Vote against every incumbent. Regardless of party affiliation. Of course since we do not have an incumbent president you will have at least one choice.
WHY THIS WILL WORK?
As people start posting this campaign on their blogs, websites, and mailing lists. As they start doing the FWD gig, sooner or later the press is gonna get hold of it. Sooner or later if enough do it, they are going to report on it. “IF” enough actually follow through with it you will hear the talking heads on campaign night talking about how the PEOPLE of AMERICA have sent a loud and clear message politicians on both sides of the ISLE.
THAT WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE THEIR COWARDLY INCOMPETENCE AND OVERT DESTRUCTION OF THIS COUNTRY ANYMORE! WE WILL HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE!
We also let them know that two years from now when the next elections come up we are going to do the exact same thing. We, the American people are cleaning house.
You don’t think this can work? Imagine how fast these suckers will start scrambling to get things right if they knew that if they didn’t they would not be in office long enough to get rich off of us.
Now you can ignore this message as the ravings of a mad man. Or you can keep doing what you have always done and be assured that you will keep getting what you have always got. SCREWED!
Yes we know that it means you may actually have to break years of tradition and vote for somebody in the party that makes you puke. But ask yourself a question, what has loyalty to any particular party got you to date? I thought so. So pass it on, and send the bums in Washington a clear message. One they can not helbp ut listen to.
Do not be separate along party lines. But Unite as Americans.
“God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. … And what country can preserve its liberties, if it’s rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.” (November 13, 1787, Thomas Jefferson)
I am not proposing an armed revolution. Our situation is not yet that grave. I am calling for all of my fellow Americans to take charge of their government. To use their voice and their ballot to take back the their government from the professional politicians and special interests. If we do not vote them all out, regardless of political affiliation then we are truly deserving of our fate as a nation and as a people.
“If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.” (1780, Samuel Adams)
We are there. We have reached the time that Adams spoke of. We have vain and aspiring men and women running our government. If we do nothing to change this trend, then we have failed ourselves and our legacy will be nothing but ruin.
As a people we do not need a cool logo or slogan to stand behind. This election day I ask you to stand with me in voting the bastards out. This is not a new concept. It is a concept who’s time has come.
Let the revolution begin.
