On August 6th, 2009 White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs fielded questions from reporters. Among the usual questions were ones relating to the White House Blog asking people to send it to flag@whitehouse.gov
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
Notice what it says, “If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.” No where does it say, if you are confused about Health Insurance Reform, send your questions here and we will send you correct information. But that is exaclty what The White House and Gibbs would have you believe.

At :49 into the video, Gibbs is asked what the purpose of the email address is.
Gibbs replied, “We ask people that if they have questions about health care reform and about what they’re hearing about its effects on them, to let us know and we provide information to show that isn’t true. But nobody is collecting names.”
At 6:21 Gibbs is asked how many emails have been sent to the flag@ email address if those people who have had their ‘fishy’ emails forwarded to the White House will be informed that the White House has their email and have an opportunity to make a correction to the ‘historical public record’.
Gibbs replied, “I, for the life of me, didn’t understand your question.”
So, at 6:55 the reporter re asked the question, “So the peoples whose emails have been forwarded, they wont be informed that their emails have been forwarded to the government?”
To which, Gibbs stammered, ” I.. I.. I.. Maybe I’m missing something. I.. I.. I’m sure your hatching some nefarious plot but I, for the life of me, can’t understand it.”
Of course Gibbs doesnt understand the question. The White House has SAID that its only using the flag@ email address to get people to write to them to get the correct information even if the OFFICIAL White House Blog does not make mention of that once.
Mr. Gibbs, you are a lying Ass Hat.
