That was the title to Star Trek VI and was an allegory to United States – Soviet/Russian relations. I watched it again today and it hit me, that where we are in America today. Only its not The United States’ relationship with another country. Its the divided US Electorate and Health Insurance Reform.
On August 6th, 2009 White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs fielded questions from reporters. Among the usual questions were ones relating to the White House Blog asking people to send it to flag@whitehouse.gov. Here are a few of his answers.
The White House has asked that this blog, as well as thousands of others, be reported to flag@whitehouse.gov. Senator John Cornyn sent a letter to Obama asking him to explain what was going on with Americans turning in Americans and what the White House was going to do with the information obtained thru this ‘tip’ line.
We learn that the White House has given game plan briefings to Congressional Democrats on how to ‘sell’ the Health Insurance Reform bill to the public at their upcoming Town Hall Meetings.
The liberals, at least during the horrible, horrible Bush years, said that they had a right to protest and that ‘Dissent is Patriotic’. Its funny then, all these years (okay, months later) that if you oppose Health Insurance Reform, or the Obama Agenda in general, you are a threat to National Security.
